FIVE THINGS FOR A FRIDAY
WHERE ARE WE NOW?
With help from the Scottish Community Development Centre, we took the ‘pulse’ of the community to check your thoughts of where we are now. Each year the community will use this as our benchmark and review. The current results are in, as well as some additional information that may be useful to you for more information Take The Pulse Survey Results | 16 November 2021 | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)
COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN LAUNCH
The Community Action Plan was launched on 19th November. Copies in print have arrived and will start being posted out to households next week. You can read the plan online here Home | Future Ideas (communityfuture.net)
SKILLS AND VOLUNTEER AUDIT
Once you have had time to read the plan you might think “I can help with that”. We will send out a Local Skills and Volunteer Survey to see what help you can give to make the Community Action Plan come to life. You don’t have to join a committee to help – you just need will, drive and determination. At the launch event we announced the ‘Action Groups’ for each theme will be continuing, facilitated at first by Nick Wright, with some funding provided from the Trust to progress the actions identified in the Plan. The new Trust staff team will be guiding and supporting the actions.
HOW SHOULD YOU READ THE PLAN?
In the plan you will meet five characters
Meet Jim, 68, a retired estate worker.
Meet Claire, 34, who has part time jobs in a local hotel.
Meet Ryan, 16, who is at secondary school.
Meet Amy, 22, who is a recent arts graduate.
Meet Paul, 52, a financial consultant.
You may have a friend or family member like Jim, Claire, Ryan, Amy and Paul.
They may even remind you of yourself.
The Plan also provides some initial guidance how the Action Groups can progress the plan, who could be involved, what initial steps to take and examples of good practice elsewhere.
We know Plans can be quite intimidating so do catch Five Things For A Friday next week when we relate what’s happening to everyday ‘family’ life!
TRUST AGM
The Trust AGM took place on Wednesday 24th November. Our first hybrid AGM with people in the room and online via Zoom. We said goodbye to Directors Russell Bain, Chris Finlay, Jillian Barclay and Frank Ellam and said hello to Maire Brown, Maureen McGuire, Ken Sinclair and Mark Sutherland. Thank you so much to everyone who attended, to current and leaving Directors, to the new Directors and staff who helped with the event.
AND FINALLY
Time to squeeze in that we are advertising for a new Buildings and Facilities Officer. Details for the role can be found here Contracts for work | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)
